The remodel of this mid-century classic included some structural as well as cosmetic changes in order to achieve a more up to date look and feel while retaining the home’s spare modern qualities.

After living in the home for more than 30 yrs, the owner wanted a more functional kitchen integrated with the adjacent spaces and accessible to the exterior; new finishes throughout; a way to display her collection of glass and ceramic pieces; and a more inviting front entry.

The approach was to create a better flow between spaces by removing several of the interior walls around the kitchen area. A large sliding door in the dining room was installed to provide easy indoor- outdoor access and abundant natural light. A new lighting scheme was developed for all the main spaces and bathrooms. The choice of materials responded to the client’s inclination towards a softer and lighter palette with a few touches of color: white oak cabinetry, back painted glass, Milestone flooring, ceramic tile.
